Naomi's Kindergarten Graduation

Naomi had her Kindergarten Recognition Program (aka Graduation) on June 2nd. Each child's name was called and their teacher shared the child's favorite subject, kindergarten experience, and what they wanted to be when the grow up. Naomi's favorite subject was reading. Her favorite kindergarten experience was going to Dewberry Farm. And when she grows up, she wants to be an aquatics scientist just like her mom. (Ok, so I cried when they said that!!) Just a side note: I did not cry on Naomi's first day of school but I cried buckets during her graduation. I can't believe my little girl is growing up!

(PS: I made the reading apron her teacher is wearing. Naomi wanted to give her teacher a unique/special gift. And you know how I love to sew. Her teacher loved the apron.)

What to Do When the Lights Go Out

One very stormy and rainy Friday night in May, David and I decided to go on a date. As we were heading to the movie after our dinner, we got a text from the babysitter saying that our house had lost electricty. What luck?! So instead of a movie we headed back home. The storm was still pretty bad when we got home so our babysitters hung around until the weather and roads cleared up. The only problem was we had to figure out how to entertain the little girls with no electricity (oh yes and no AC). The girls found lots of fun things to do. They made shadow puppets on the wall with the flashlights. And then we built a tent in the family room with a bunch of quilts. Oh and to cool ourselves off, since it was so hot we had ice cream. We also played games in our tent. All of the girls (including the babysitters had a lot of fun)!!

Kaylee made her own little tent on the side just for her.

Kaylee Turned 4

Wow, what a crazy last few months. Life has been so busy I got behind on blogging. Kaylee turned 4 on May 12th. When I asked Kaylee what she wanted for her birthday dinner, she said she wanted strawberry cake. I told her that was not a dinner but a dessert. Finally she said she wanted PB&J sandwhiches for her birthday dinner. What an easy child to please!!! Her birthday was a simple affair this year just David, Naomi and I but it was still special. The theme was Mermaids again. I wonder how much longer she will be on this kick. Here are a couple of pictures from that night.
