Bedtime Miracle

My girls have always had difficulty falling asleep. Some said that I just needed a good routine and eventually they would go to sleep at a decent time. However, we had a good routine and they still could not fall asleep. This truly was not a surprise to me because I have the same problem. I have extreme difficulty falling asleep especially during the school year. I don't necessarily suffer from insomnia. Simply my brain just won't shut off. For example: This week I have been suffering from a really bad cold. One would think that being as sick as I am I should have no problem falling asleep. Nope, I was up till 1 am this morning thinking about who knows what but my brain just would not shut off. This past summer the girls stayed with my parents. After the first few weeks of trying to get my girls to bed, my sister-in-law gave my parents something to try. It is an herbal supplement called Nite MGR. And let me tell you it works miracles. My parents used it all summer and told me how easily the girls were going to bed. Since the girls have been home, David and I give it to the girls every night. And it truly is a miracle. The girls are usually asleep between 8/8:30 every evening. What a blessing!!!!! Thank you Mandi and John for telling Mom and Dad about this!!! (Now I am seriously considering taking some myself.)

New Beds

Kaylee and Naomi having been sharing Naomi's twin bed since Kaylee was 2. It has gotten quite crowded in the twin bed especially when David or I are in there cuddling with them. We have been talking for a few months about getting a bed for Kaylee. This past week we finally got one for her. We were out shopping for birthday presents for Kaylee and we found a Little Mermaid toddler bed sheet set complete with comforter. It was on clearance and I could not pass it up. After all it was perfect for Kaylee. And since we bought the bed set, she now needed a bed to go with it. We set up her new bed with Ariel sheets on her birthday. And gave it to her for her big present. She absolutely loved it. I would like to say that it is easier getting her to go to sleep at night but that is still a work in progress. But she does get into bed easier. (P.S. So Naomi did not feel left out, we gave her the Tink quilt I had bought on clearance two months ago and was saving for Christmas. She already had the sheets so this was something she had been wanting.)

Sing It Again Sam!!

As part of the girls nightly routine, we play a CD from an LDS singer with primary and other lullaby type songs. Tonight the girls were having trouble falling asleep so I asked them if they would prefer me to sing to them. Of course, they readily agreed to that suggestion. After singing some of their favorite primary songs, Kaylee had a request. She wanted me to sing Ariel's song. I am sure that really does not surprise anyone. After I finished singing "Part of Your World", Kaylee wanted me to sing the drum song. I was clueless as to what that was until she started doing the beat at which point I figured out it was "Under the Sea." I really should have known that. I did pretty fair at singing "Part of Your World" off the top of my head but "Under the Sea" was a different matter. Good thing there is internet. So I printed it off and sang both of the songs to the girls. And then Kaylee kept requesting "Part of Your World". I finally had to stop because my voice was going hoarse.
