Friday Night Lights

On a Friday (or Saturday) night from September to December, you can usually find our family sitting in the bleachers watching my high school's football game. Since I teach mostly seniors, the majority of my students are on some varsity sport or other. I enjoy going to the football games every week and seeing my students (football players, cheerleaders, brigade members, band, and drill team) show off their talents. And my students love to know that I am there in the stands supporting them. Every week my students ask if I am going to the game that week. A couple weeks ago, I happened to be sitting two rows back from our bench. It was neat to see the smile on my football players faces when the realized that I had come to watch them play. Here are a few pictures of David and the girls from this season.

It's Football Time Again

It is that time of year again where we get dressed in red and head to the football stadium. Our team is doing really well this year. We have won all but one game so far. Last Saturday we won 50-0 the week before we won homecoming 39-0. Our team is really on a roll. This year I have the opportunity of teaching about a 1/3 of the football team. I teach about 30 from all of my classes combined, which means we usually stay for the whole game even if it is a blow-out so I can say that I saw all of my football players play. Good thing that I do. Today one of my students asked if I saw him play and he played the last two minutes of the game. He sure had a smile on his face when I could answer in the affirmative that I saw him play.

State Champs Again

On December 20th, we donned our red for the last time this football season. This was the day that our football teams dream would be determined. They did awesome again and we are now back to back state champions. I really enjoy working for a high school who has a really outstanding football team. Growing up my high school football teams were never that stellar and so I enjoy watching a team that actually wins some games. I also enjoy watching some of my students acheive their dreams.
